Annual Dinner in London - 31st May 2007
The Foundation's annual dinner will once again take place in the splendid Merchant Taylor's Hall, London. Located in the centre of London, the Hall last year played host to over 120 guests who gathered to celebrate the renaming of the Foundation.
In 2007, the Foundation is hoping to increase these numbers and host yet another fabulous evening. Starting with a reception in the stunning courtyard and followed by a meal in the Great Hall, there will be plenty of entertainment including close-up magic, the traditional heads and tails game, a raffle and a charity auction.
The dinner is an important event in the Foundation's calendar and acts as a great way to meet other supporters of the charity and introduce friends and family to the work of the Foundation.
In 2007, we will be aiming to fill the Great Hall, so please book a ticket now. If you would like to attend the dinner, please email terrie@vascularsociety.org.uk for a booking form. Tickets will cost £90, with tables of 10 available for £900.
Leeds Golf Day and Dinner - October 6th 2006
A splendid day was had by all at Rudding Park Golf Course and hotel, in an event organised by David Berridge and Julian Scott. In the morning, over 30 golfers made their way round the course in fine weather. Following this, over 170 people made their way to dinner within the Rudding Park Hotel. The toastmaster Richard Strudwick hosted a packed evening of good food and good entertainment. A lively heads and tails game was followed by a raffle and an auction, all of which was supported greatly by the guests. Dinner was followed by a talk from Professor James Owen-Drife and music from the band Shooting Ken. Overall the day was a huge success, raising over £12,000 for the Foundation. Many thanks to all who took part in organising the day and to all those who kindly donated prizes for the golf competition, the raffle and the auction.
Great North Run - October 1st 2006
The Foundation had one runner in this year's Great North Run, Chris Wright, who was running in memory of his father, who sadly died of a pulmonary embolism in December 2005. Chris did the run because " My Dad always supported me in my running and came to watch me compete in local events, he was himself a top county athletics runner as a young man. I hope to raise as much money as possible in his memory in the hope that it will go someway in helping work and research into conditions like this."
Chris made it round in 1 hour and 54 minutes and raised over £300 for the Foundation, which is great news. You can still support him at http://www.justgiving.com/chrisjwright
Women's Hydro Run, London - 3rd September 2006
Once again, Lisa Sanford and her team supported the Foundation by taking part in the Women's Hydro Run. Lisa supports the Foundation in because her Dad underwent an emergency aneurysm operation last year and she wants to raise awareness of this treatable, yet often missed, condition. More details of the race can be found at http://www.justgiving.com/lisaandco. Many thanks to Lisa and her team for all their support!
