How you can help

Time Outdoors

The CF now has a presence on www.timeoutdoors.com and the charity is currently being promoted with several top events. So if you would like to raise money for the CF, please visit their site - you will be spoilt for choice!

Calling all club members!

If you or your friends or relatives belong to a cricket, golf, bowls or any other sports club or society please encourage them to hold a charity event for the CF. As well as raising much-needed funds for research, such events help to raise awareness of the CF and vascular disease in general. We can provide promotional material and T-shirts free of charge for any sponsored or fundraising event and previous ‘charity days’ have proved very successful.

Marie Galley, Vascular Nurse Specialist at Broomfield Hospital in Essex, encouraged her local cricket club to fundraise for the CF and we thank her very much.

The event raised £375 for the CF and Marie’s report of the day is as follows:-

On a glorious day members of Silver End Cricket Club started to gather at 0900 hrs to prepare for the days’ festivities. Stalls were erected and adorned with various items for sale, to compete against each other and, of course, to eat. Also the bar had to be stocked up.

Staff of Ward B7 at Broomfield Hospital were designated as the cake stall suppliers and sellers. So there I was at 0800 on the day baking, icing and whipping, arriving at the club at 1230 to get set up. A mini whirlwind arrived just in time to transport CF information to the heavens (spreading the word so to speak). Other staff members arrived with various contributions of cakes (cholesterol heaven). We were all made to feel most welcome by the club and we thank them unreservedly for there help and support in raising this money. It was not only club members but whole families including the children who gave of their time.

Other stalls included horse racing, looked after some very shady looking characters posing as bookmakers. The teddy stall, darts and golf competitions were also very popular. In the clubhouse the bar provided the libation that helped make everybody even more generous, whilst tea and cake catered for those with the real thirst.

The CF are extremely grateful to Silver End Cricket Club and Marie for their sterling efforts and hope this may give others a few ideas!
