Annual Dinner in London - 31st May 2007
The Foundation's annual dinner will once again take place in the splendid Merchant Taylor's Hall, London. Located in the centre of London, the Hall last year played host to over 120 guests who gathered to celebrate the renaming of the Foundation.
In 2007, the Foundation is hoping to increase these numbers and host yet another fabulous evening. Starting with a reception in the stunning courtyard and followed by a meal in the Great Hall, there will be plenty of entertainment including close-up magic, the traditional heads and tails game, a raffle and a charity auction.
The dinner is an important event in the Foundation's calendar and acts as a great way to meet other supporters of the charity and introduce friends and family to the work of the Foundation.
In 2007, we will be aiming to fill the Great Hall, so please book a ticket now. If you would like to attend the dinner, please email terrie@vascularsociety.org.uk for a booking form. Tickets will cost £90, with tables of 10 available for £900.
Leeds Golf Day and Dinner - October 6th 2006
A splendid day was had by all at Rudding Park Golf Course and hotel, in an event organised by David Berridge and Julian Scott. In the morning, over 30 golfers made their way round the course in fine weather. Following this, over 170 people made their way to dinner within the Rudding Park Hotel. The toastmaster Richard Strudwick hosted a packed evening of good food and good entertainment. A lively heads and tails game was followed by a raffle and an auction, all of which was supported greatly by the guests. Dinner was followed by a talk from Professor James Owen-Drife and music from the band Shooting Ken. Overall the day was a huge success, raising over £12,000 for the Foundation. Many thanks to all who took part in organising the day and to all those who kindly donated prizes for the golf competition, the raffle and the auction.
Great North Run - October 1st 2006
The Foundation had one runner in this year's Great North Run, Chris Wright, who was running in memory of his father, who sadly died of a pulmonary embolism in December 2005. Chris did the run because " My Dad always supported me in my running and came to watch me compete in local events, he was himself a top county athletics runner as a young man. I hope to raise as much money as possible in his memory in the hope that it will go someway in helping work and research into conditions like this."
Chris made it round in 1 hour and 54 minutes and raised over £300 for the Foundation, which is great news. You can still support him at http://www.justgiving.com/chrisjwright
Women's Hydro Run, London - 3rd September 2006
Once again, Lisa Sanford and her team supported the Foundation by taking part in the Women's Hydro Run. Lisa supports the Foundation in because her Dad underwent an emergency aneurysm operation last year and she wants to raise awareness of this treatable, yet often missed, condition. More details of the race can be found at http://www.justgiving.com/lisaandco. Many thanks to Lisa and her team for all their support!
Circulation Foundation London Dinner - May 12th
2006 Once again, the London dinner was held in the superb surroundings of Merchat Taylor's Hall. Following a champagne reception (kindly sponsored by Medi UK) in the splendid Courtyard, over 120 guests had dinner in the Great Hall, with entertainment by close-up magician Anthony John and the Opera Gala Quartet. Following this, there was an auction and raffle, of many prizes donated by very generous supporters of the Foundation. The evening was a great success and raised over £10,000. Many thanks to the attendees and those who generously supported the evening by bidding for prizes.
All-Terrain dinner - 30th March & All-Terrain Run - 30th April
In memory of Richie Wonnocott, the All-Terrain clothing company, based by Loch Lomond in Scotland, held a dinner and sponsored a run to raise money for the Circulation Foundation. Many people ran the 10km round the Loch and raised over £1500 in sponsorship. All-Terrain are hoping to make this an annual event and more details of next years event will be available soon.
The Newport play it again! - 14 December 2005
On Wednesday 14th December, The Newport pub in Braishfield, near Romsey held its annual carol service for the CF. Once more it was a great success, raising over £700. Pub landlords, Janet and Bernie Cook, have generously hosted this event for several years. However, this year it was all achieved (as it were) second hand. Janet Cook had to mastermind events from her Romsey hospital bed, suffering from (guess what?) vascular disease herself!
Much merriment was made; many volunteers, including Father Christmas himself, helped. Roy Hunt's hog roast disappeared with barely a piece of crackling left and the Michelmersh Silver Band excelled itself. A huge thank you to you all.
VSGBI GOLF Day - Tuesday 22nd November 2005
Despite a foggy start, the seven teams who competed in the first VS Golf Day at Broadstone (Dorset) Golf Club all managed to get round with very respectable scores.
After a splendid lunch, the prize giving was kindly officiated by the CF Founder, Mr Tony Chant. Shown here are the winning team, strangely named the Tequila Mockingbirds, who each received a winners' medal and a set of golf balls donated by Medi UK. The team, sponsored by B Braun, comprised Vince Smyth, Nick Chant (no relation!), Jeremy Perkins and Nick Shaper. Nick Shaper (pictured here with Mr Chant) also won the Nearest-the-Pin competition, receiving a wonderful prize of two nights at The Royal Bath Hotel, Bournemouth for two people with breakfast. The runners up were a team from Lombard Asset Finance who also received a set of balls.
The CF is extremely grateful to all those who donated items, enabling us to provide a superb selection of raffle prizes. Grateful thanks also go to Bard, Medtronic, Lombard Asset Finance, Boston Scientific and Vascutek for providing additional sponsorship for the event. The event raised just over£700 and was enjoyed by all who participated.
CF Golf Tournament - 27th September 2005
The Circulation Foundation had another glorious day for its annual golf tournament at West Hill Golf Club. The event was another great success, raising around £1,500. The winning team, BPII, was lead by Mr Brian Parsons a river warden from Romsey in Hampshire. He is pictured here with his team mates, holding the CF Charity Shield which was kindly presented by Woking's Deputy Mayor, Cllr John Kingsbury, who also helped with the raffle.
Mr Parsons is a committed supporter of the Foundation and has been bringing two teams to the tournament for the past 5 years. The CF is delighted that Brian and his team have finally won after all this time. It really must have been their lucky day as Pete McFarlane, from the BPI team, won the longest drive competition and is now the proud owner of a new golf stand bag donated by Mizuno. Mr P White from the RAC Vets team won the nearest-the-pin, receiving a PING putter for his efforts.
The CF is immensely grateful to the staff at West Hill for hosting such a splendid day once again and to the many companies and individuals who donated prizes for the competition and raffle. Hole sponsors this year included Woking Nuffield Hospital and Gate-a-Mation Limited. Thanks also to the PGA South Region, who again supplied auction prizes of a round for 4 at Wentworth and tickets to the 2006 BMW (formerly Volvo) PGA Championship.
See Forthcoming Events for details of next year's golf tournament.
Newcastle Ball - Hilton Gateshead, 10th September 2005
By all accounts this was a fun evening with great food and a superb band - The Hip Operation. Guests generously participated in the Heads and Tails game, the raffle and auction. Ben Banerjee, the auctioneer, is pictured here with two 'friends'!
The event raised over £4,000 for the CF and we are extremely grateful to Tim and Louise Lees and everyone else who worked so hard to make the evening such a success. Thanks also to everyone who bought prize draw tickets.
