The Circulation Foundation would like to welcome Mr Ian Franklin as the newly elected Chair of the charity. He has supported the Foundation for a number of years with fundraising initiatives; serving on the Circulation Foundation Committee for the past year.
Mr Franklin is a vascular surgeon and a leading specialist in vascular and endovascular surgery. He has performed the highest volume of VNUS Closure® procedures in the UK (over 650) and is the Lead UK Trainer for this procedure.
Mr Franklin holds an academic post at the Imperial College Faculty of Medicine as Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer and is active in research. He has published numerous scientific papers, book chapters and books, and is a dedicated teacher and trainer within medical school and in post-graduate training programmes.
Mr Franklin qualified at St Mary's Hospital Medical School, London. Outside of work he enjoys skiing, sailing and fundraising for Circulation Foundation.

Head of Research - Professor Shervanthi Homer-Vanniasinkam
Professor Homer-Vanniasinkam is Consultant Vascular Surgeon at The General Infirmary at Leeds, Honorary Professor of Surgery at University College London and Professor of Translational Vascular Medicine at the University of Bradford.
In addition to her clinical work as a full-time vascular surgeon, she is actively involved in a number of basic, applied and translational research projects and has successfully implemented a multidisciplinary research programme within the hospital and the universities of Leeds, Bradford and London. More recently, Professor Homer-Vanniasinkam has been associated with emerging technologies and their applications in healthcare; in 2008 she was appointed Chair of the UK Nanomedicine Network by the Institute of Nanotechnology. She holds a honorary chair at Cranfield Health and is a visiting faculty member there, teaching on the Cranfield University MSc in Nanomedicine.
Professor Homer-Vanniasinkam is Clinical Sub-Dean of Leeds Medical School and has significant medical undergraduate teaching and examining commitments. In 2006, she developed and launched a novel undergraduate medical research scholarship programme termed LURE, a ‘first’ in the UK.
