Donations - Why we need your help

One in two of the population will be affected by vascular disease at some point in their lives. Many of the symptoms are treatable and can be combated by a change in lifestyle and good medical advice.

Without such treatments, blocked arteries can cause heart attacks, strokes and may lead to amputations; swollen arteries (aneurysms) can burst and lead to premature death; blocked veins can cause clots on the lung and again, premature death.

The Circulation Foundation raises money for research aimed at preventing these problems and raises awareness of the threat to life, limb and lifestyle. Without your support, the Foundation will be unable to carry on their important work.

There are many ways you can support. If you would like to discuss any of the following options, please call the Fundraising Manager of the CF Terrie McCann on 020 7304 4779 or email at terrie@vascularsociety.org.uk

Regular Giving

One of the best ways to help support the CF is through a regular standing order. Even a relatively small amount of £10 a month can make a huge difference to the work that we do. To download a donation form, please go here.

Charity Choice Online Donations Service

Make a difference now and donate to a charity that touches your heart or your favourite cause. Charity Choice and The Co-operative Bank Plc have combined their experience in the charity world to bring you a cost-effective means of channelling donations to your favourite charities. Charity Choice lists over 10,000 UK registered charities and over the last 17 years we have been delighted to hear that we are heavily responsible for contributing to the success of many charity's legacy incomes. The vital importance of legacies and donations to charities cannot be overstated which is why we have set up this free service.

Just visit www.charitychoice.co.uk/donate.htm. If you are a UK taxpayer please remember to click Gift Aid when making your donation - for every £1 donated the charity can reclaim 28p extra.

You can start helping us right away, online

The CF is now able to accept credit and debit card donations securely online with the help of GiveNow.org. Founded by CAF (Charities Aid Foundation) and AOL Time Warner Foundation, this site is the major new destination for online giving and fundraising in the UK. The donations page also contains a Gift Aid declaration which will enable CAF to reclaim the tax and apply it to the donation on our behalf. NEW – we can now accept donations in US Dollars or Euros, as well as Pounds Sterling. Just click on the link to the online donations facility, make your donation in either US Dollars or Euros and this will be converted into Pounds Sterling for the CF. With no additional charge to you or us!

The procedure is quick and easy so please give it a try. Click on this Link DONATE ON LINE

Help the CF through your tax return

From the start of the new tax year, people who complete a Self Assessment tax return will be able to nominate a charity to receive all or part of any repayment due to them. The CF has registered with this scheme and our unique code is TAH19QG. If you would like to make a donation in this way, please enter the code on your tax return. All donations will come straight to us and Gift Aid can be also added, even on anonymous donations.

CharityCard holders - earn an extra £15!

For the first time, CAF (Charities Aid Foundation) is offering an incentive when donors open a Charity Account or introduce friends and family to the service. The CAF Charity Account, which acts like a bank account for charitable donations, was set up to make tax-effective giving more flexible and efficient. There are currently 80,000 Charity Account holders making donations of £60 million every year and £14 million is reclaimed from the Inland Revenue.

The 'Donor-get-Donor' campaign is designed to enable Charity Account holders to act as ambassadors and encourage friends and family to also open an account. CAF will then add £15 to the original donor's account and £15 to their friend's new account, enabling both donors to give even more money to their favourite charities.

The CAF Charity Account can be funded by a number of methods including Give As You Earn, Gift Aid, or gifts of quoted stocks and shares. Where appropriate, tax is reclaimed by CAF and added to the account balance. Account holders are given a 'chequebook' and a CharityCard to distribute the funds securely and, if they decide, anonymously by post, phone or online to any recognised charity and in whatever amounts they choose.

If you would like to help the CF in this way, please call CAF on 0800 993311 or visit the website www.AllAboutGiving.org

In Memoriam

If a relative or friend has died of vascular disease, an in memoriam donation can be a practical and appropriate tribute instead of flowers. All in memoriam donations are listed in our annual newsletter, The Circulator, and are now added to our website. (click here)

In Memoriam Donations qualify for Gift Aid, another 28%!

Remember the CF in Your Will

Without the kind generosity of people like you, the CF would not be able to carry on the important work it does. Including the CF in your Will is a very effective way to be part of our continuing fight against vascular disease. According to a recent NOP consumer survey, 68% of people said they would be happy if they learnt that their parents had left some money to charity and 76% felt their families would support their decision to leave money to charity.

You can either discuss your wishes with your solicitor, request the CF’s Legacy Information Pack or visit www.rememberacharity.org.uk. You can even write your own Will online by visiting www.thewillsite.co.uk

Payroll Giving

A new cash incentive has been introduced to enable small and medium sized organisations to offer the Payroll Giving scheme to staff. Currently, most large companies (FTSE 100 / FTSE 250) are already involved with Payroll Giving, but many smaller organisations have yet to take part. So if you would like to help the CF in this tax-effective way, and your employer does not yet operate a Payroll-Giving scheme, this new cash incentive may be the encouragement they need to start one.

Businesses with fewer than 500 employees, who establish a payroll giving scheme between April 2004 and the end of 2006, will be eligible for a grant of up to £500. In addition, the first £10 of each employee's monthly donation will be matched, pound for pound, by the Government for a period of six months. Evidence shows that just 1 in 5 employees have access to payroll giving and this should provide the means for more employers to get involved. Payroll giving makes it easy for individuals to donate a regular amount tax effectively to a charity of their choice, provides charities with a regular income, and strengthens the part businesses play in building a strong and cohesive society. The initiative will be funded by the Home Office, administered by the Institute of Fundraising and promoted by Business in the Community. For further details about payroll giving and the new scheme please call Business in the Community on 0870 600 2482 or visit www.payrollgivinggrants.co.uk
