The President's Early Career Award 2011 (PECA)
The Circulation Foundation is proud to announce its second President's Early Career Award.
We are the only charity in the UK promoting vascular health by supporting excellence in education, training and research. We also recognise that it is a particularly vulnerable time for young surgeons in the early years following their consultant appointment.
The PECA supports outstanding young clinician-researchers by them as they set out to develop their independent research careers.
Eligibility
- Surgeons who are members of the Vascular Society and who are within 5 years of their FIRST substantive consultant appointment or equivalent eg. senior lecturer in the UK.
- The applicant must be in a consultant post at the time they submit the application.
- The applicant must have a proven track record of active vascular research; this could be in basic, translational or clinical studies.
- There should be clear evidence that the applicant is working in an environment which would facilitate his/her research ambitions.
Funding
The President's Early Career Award provides £50,000 per annum for two years (total £100,000).
The award is paid quarterly and is subject to the applicant providing regular reports to the Circulation Foundation.

The application form needs to be completed and returned along with your CV (2 sides max) by Friday 15th July 2011. If your application is successful you will be asked to submit a more detailed proposal.
